This books mission is to encourage survivors of any type of abuse to take a personal, conscious healing journey. While the focus is predominantly on sexual abuse, this book offers tools for everyone to break through what is locked up in the subconscious and the unconscious. Its about changing the unknown to the known, in which we can all find aspects that our souls have been crying out for.Fact: 24% of the U.S. population claims to have been sexually abused before the age of 18.As staggering as that number is, keep in mind that number only reflects reported cases. The majority of those who have shared their childhood experiences with me, never told anyone, let alone report it. Nor, did I. For me, the statute of limitations has long since run out.Ignorance is not bliss to survivors.Talking about abuse, particularly sexual offenses, makes others uncomfortable.Indifference toward survivors and change in attitude toward the issue will not occur, without widespread exposure and understanding of its long-term effects on victims. We need to step out of denial and not worry about those who dont understand. When we speak from heart-centered facts, discussion is no longer uncomfortable and instead propels actions toward change. The statement above illustrates exactly why it is important to bother. Many are suffering in silence from the long-term effects of abuse. Their beautiful, bright light has not been allowed to shine, because they have faced shame, blame, guilt, denial, rejection, and indifference. Abuse, while not normal behavior, is so rampant, that many times it is often not recognized, because to the victim, it seems normal in his or her everyday environment. Its what they are used to.The only way this planet will transform into a more compassionate one is to expose the atrocities and implement a change in attitude toward them.Eradicating abuse altogether will take some time, but isnt it time to transform being pissed-off, numb, in denial
