    This book uproots the classic Greek myth of the muse and sets it in modern Montreal, using the Jewish traditions as a theme. Vi ( as in rye) and Lee are two young women, outsiders in society because of their paranormal role. They both have the ability, and the duty to inspire the gifted and help them achieve their goal. The problem is that those gifted types might not be able to take that creative charge and may kill themselves. Vi hates her role, but Lee is oblivious to the harm. They meet and form a steamy relationship, as Lee helps Vi find her pleasure and release in rough sex and spanking. Vi meets a guy, though, and has to choose. Will it be the outsider Lee, who accepts her as she is, yet is an outsider? Or will she hide her own nature and go with her boyfriend Cal, a decent, solid man who doesnt truly understand her but loves her nonetheless.
