Frankenstein is the most famous, notorious, imitated, copied, revised, recreated book ever written in the modern era, yet it was written by a mere 18-year-old runaway girl.Mary Shelley says the Frankenstein story came to her in a waking dream. She sat around with friends by a log fire in the villa of Lord Byron. Each undertook to think about and write a ghost story. Unable to think of one and unable to sleep, Mary became possessed by her imagination as she beheld the grim terrors of her "waking dream", her ghost story. There have been numerous books, movies, comics books and videos based to the Frankenstein story. However, most deviate far from the original. The most common explanation for the creation of the Frankenstein monster was it was assembled from the body parts of dead humans and an electrical shock brings it back to life.In the original book, Victor Frankenstein is a scientist who is experimenting with life forms when he finally finds a way to create life. The monster he creates has no name at all. However, in most of the movies, film stills, clips, photos, book covers, mags, illustrations, cartoons, toys, videos and comic books based on the original, Frankenstein is the name of the monster himself. The word Frankenstein has become part of the English language. It can be predicted that more Frankenstein books and movies will be coming out. In the movie version, the scientist has an assistant named Igor. Igor makes a mistake, putting a diseased brain in the body of the monster rather than a healthy brain. It is this mistake that causes the monster to go off on a murderous rampage.
