Yugoslavia 1939 Sofia Savich is a young girl who lives an ordinary life until her world begins to erode rapidly beneath her feet. Fleeing through the forest in the middle of the winter from the enemies, Sofia and her family find hunger and cold as much of an enemy to them as the fascists. Starving, and nearly frozen to death, they ultimately discover an abandoned place. In their new sanctuary, they take cover until the winter has passed. Then, one day, a young soldier, Adrian enters Sofia’s life in the most unlikely circumstances. Adrian, who is an attractive, charismatic and fun young man, turns Sofia’s world upside down. Sofia realizes that she has fallen in love. However, she suddenly finds herself battling her own beasts. Should she listen to her common sense or heart? Sofia and her family are convinced they are safe in their new place, however, soon the past comes hunting them. Now her world is yet again falling apart as they find themselves on the run once again. Will they have enough time to escape or will they succumb to the enemies?
