    The book deals with one of the promisingand interesting directions of laser physics -laser cooling of solids. The history of researchin this direction is described briefly and theresults of experiments with laser cooling ofcondensed media are discussed. Specialattention is given to the physics of coolingprocesses and mathematical description ofthese processes. Problems of construction ofself-cooling solid-state laser and echoprocessorsare investigated. One of thechapters is concerned with magnetic cooling,spin locking and photon locking, and alsomethods of reducing the uniform width ofspectral lines of information carriers ofoptical echo-processors. Problems of opticalcooling of solid-state quantum processors arealso discussed.
