    John Hamilton is a gifted student who wins a scholarship to study at a leading US university. He falls in love with the exquisite Leana but the relationship fails. John becomes world famous for his PhD is self-organising systems. He sets in train forces that he cannot control. Sam Weiss is called to head the development of a top secret artificial intelligence project, which becomes his nemesis when he finds that Hamilton holds the key to his success. They eventually find sanctuary in a small ranch in the South West where they come to terms with their separate pasts and entwined future. Internal conflict is crippling the United States and external conflict advances around the world but eventually conflicts diminish and prosperity is achieved. They alone know that the evolutionary process has changed forevermore. Such is the the end and the beginning.
