Dr. Zvi Keren was born in SofiaBulgaria, and is a memberof Kibbutz Kfar Menahem,Israel. For over 25 years, Zvi hasbeen studying Bulgarian Jews,including photographing,mapping and documentingthe old cemeteries there. Heled the documentation andphotographing of over 200,000documents from the mainarchives in Sofia and the provincecities. Dr. Keren is responsiblefor editing and complementingthe “electronic sheets” of 34 communities in Bulgaria in the JewishDiaspora Museum (Beit Hatfutsot) in Tel Aviv.Since 2004 he has been head of the Bulgarian Section in the CentralArchives for the History of the Jewish People in Givat Ram, Jerusalem,where thousands of documents, photographs, newspapers, audiocassees and DVDs with recorded stories are stored, in additionto over 600 books in many languages, about the Bulgarian Jews.Dr. Keren published two books in English: The Jews of Rusçuk,Istanbul 2011; The Jews of Karnobat, Sofia 2014.Dr. Zvi Keren is married with three children and ninegrandchildren.
