EVALUATING BETWEEN TRADITIONAL AND CHRISTIAN BELIEFS.A lot has been said about womens freedom. If there is one area of male-female propaganda, its the claim that women were denied their freedom. Th e Devout Woman, by Professor Odongo-Aginya speaks contrary to that misconception. Women, especially, the Acholi of Uganda, had always been free since the symbiotic relationships between Christianity and African Traditional worship. It also dispels the notion that African women were saddled with the task of having dozens of children instead of either one or two children. Prior to the beginning of the 20th century, Acholi women already had independence and freedom, and were defying traditions in an age when women in the Western and Christian society were still under their male societal domination. Fictional as the setting is, but entranced in Acholi tribe of Northern Uganda cultural and traditional religion believes; this is a must read book for all persons who are open-minded and progressive.
