The Dog In British Poetry. This collection of poems speak for themselves, and show sufficiently the place of the dog in British poetry. The subject-matter of the volume needs no apology. Most of the poems are good, but some certainly do not reach a high poetic standard; yet the author hopes the reader finds all of them interesting. With regard to some, the reader may very properly bear in mind Cowpers request: spare the poet for subjects sake. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are now republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
