The Judas Kiss is the haunting story of the fabled American Dream and one man's rise from the depths of the Great Depression to achieve that dream.Jack is a young, innocent boy just out of high school, forced to leave home to save his parents from the ultimate grief of not being able to care for their child. To break the cycle of poverty into which he was born, he travels from Michigan to California as a hobo to begin life anew with his aunt and uncle. On his short trip across the barren desolate landscape of the 1930s Midwest, he enters a world unlike anything he ever believed could exist.A member of the OSS during World War Two, he witnesses and participates in intrigue and the utter brutality of espionage, only to return home to continue a Machiavellian existence, his pre-war education and war experience having rescued him from a life of poverty and dependence.Though his investments have made him a wealthy man, he wants to return to the idealistic person of his youth and make a difference in the world. Instead, he continues to use his OSS friends to resolve some of the intrigue in his complicated life of business, romance, vengeance, and politics. As the years pass he tries to redress his predatory morals and becomes a United States Congressman, always remembering his hobo odyssey and the brave decision his father had made that resulted in his life of childhood poverty. He hopes the next generation—his son, a Vietnam Veteran in charge of the family business—won't fall prey to the Judas kiss and its mode of sex and politics.
