Writing them has given me a greater understanding of myself, hence a greater understanding of you. I hope that you find some insights into your own life. The poems can best be appreciated by reading them aloud, with emotion. As I wrote them, I kept in mind that I was really writing them on the fabric of my readers minds. For two decades, I wrote and rewrote them, trying to make them worthy of the high honor you afford me by reading, and understanding, them.
