Ione Lacy was born in 1921 and grew up in Windsor, Vermont. Immediately following her graduation from the University of Vermont in 1944 she married fellow UVM grad and newly-commissioned Army Lt. Edward A. Keenan, Jr. MD. In 1947 they opened a new medical practice in Brandon, and in 1951 moved to Essex Junction, which they were proud to call "home" for the rest of their nearly 67 years together. The foundation of Ione's life was her unfailing faith in God and her desire to share that faith with others. As a Certified Lay Speaker in The United Methodist Church for over 25 years, she substituted for area clergy and accepted leadership roles on local, district and conference levels of United Methodist Women. This book contains excerpts from sermons, UMW ceremonies, journals and other writings which she hoped might inspire friends, both known and unknown.
