The Ibibio are found in the South-East Corner ofNigeria.It is one of the Nation states along with Fulani, Hausa,Ibo, Ijaw,Tiv,Yoruba etc. that wasamalgamated by the British to form the present dayNigeria.Nsit is one of the states or Tribes (in colonialEuropean parlance) that constitutes Ibibio Nation .Nsit is one of the most populous States in Ibibio.Nsitis located in the South-Central part of the IbibioNation. It is bounded by Iman and Western Ikono to theWest; by Eket and Ikpa Nung Ndem of Ikot Abasi/Una tothe South; Ubium,Okobo and Oron to theSouth-West;Ibesikpo,Uruan and Asutan Ekpe toNorth-West ,and Oku/Offot to the North.Obio-Offiong Introduction to Nsit is one of theearliest indigenous exploration of Ibibio history.Although the Europeans had written extensively muchearlier about Ibibio, non had explored the settlementsof the Tribes and Sub-Tribes and their relationshipto each other as demonstrated by this work.As statedby the author, Nsit is the mother of mainland Ibibioand as demonstrated in this book ,the mother of Efik.Ikono has claimed that it is the cradle of Ibibionation,but Obio-Offiong has shown that Ikono is thefirst son of Nsit - Ikono Okodo Akpan Nsit.It is hoped that this book will help answer some ofthe political and divisive misrepresentations made inrecent past and present by those political andeconomic opportunist who are bent on dividing Ibibiofor their short sighted and short term gains.Uko Moses Akpan Okpok,MDIbibio Foundation
