Like so many people, this amazing and infuriating thing called brain had mystified me as a child. It worked so well in casual and comfortable circumstances that I seldom noticed it; in exams it only performed well on occasion, to my surprise, but was more frequently associated with bad memory, the terrifying region of forgetting.
